All purchases of online products, including but not limited to online courses, online exams, and Pearson Vue Test Center products are final, nonrefundable, and nonreturnable. Online courses expire after one year from the date of purchase and 90 days from date of launch. The Pearson Vue Test Center option expires one year from date of purchase.

Yes. Unused courses are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Once a course has been started: ServSafe Food Handler courses must be completed in 60 days. ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Alcohol courses must be completed in 90 days. After a course has expired, a student will not be able to access that course. A new one will need to be purchased. Online courses are not refundable and expiration dates cannot be extended.

A student who is taking the course will receive two separate email alerts before the course expires. The first notice will be sent 10 days prior to expiration. 

The second and final notice will be issued 2 days prior to expiration. An administrator who is assigning courses will receive an email alert 45 days before courses expire. 

The alert will address unassigned courses, assigned courses, and unused Course Access Keys that are about to expire.

The ServSafe certification is recognized in most jurisdictions where a Food Protection Manager Certification is required.  However, some states have additional requirements.

  Some states require state specific training or have specific licensing requirements, which may include additional fees. Check the regulatory requirements to get complete, detailed information. We also recommend contacting your local health department, as they will have the most up to date information on requirements and associated costs in your area.

The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination (ServSafe Manager Exam) is available in:

• Online: English, Spanish and Chinese.
• Print: English, Spanish/English, Korean/English, Chinese/English, French Canadian/English, Japanese/English, and Large Print.

You can only retest if you did not pass the examination, or if your current certification is expiring.  You can take the examination twice within 30 days. If you don’t pass the exam on your second attempt, you must wait 60 days from your most recent attempt before taking the exam again. You will need to purchase a new exam each time you need to retest.

No more than four attempts are allowed within a 12 month period. You will need to purchase a new Exam Access Code to re-take an online exam.  You can also purchase a new Exam Answer Sheet to retake a print exam at a test center.

Retests must be proctored by a Registered ServSafe Proctor.

  All examinees with a current certificate will be able to download or print an eCertificate. To obtain their certificates, or request one to be sent, students should log on to ServSafe.com and select Download My Certificates. They’ll see an option to download their certificates, or request one to be mailed via USPS to them directly for a $10 fee.  

Yes supervision under a registered ServSafe Proctor is required.
